FILM 2015 holds from today at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State.

The much awaited 2015 choral Festival organized by the Forum for the Inculturation of Liturgical Music (FILM) begins today at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State. It ends on 26 September, 2015.

FILM was founded on March 18, 1995 by Prof. Geoffery O. Anoliefo of the University of Benin with the kind permission of the then Archbishop of Benin, the Most Revd. Patrick E. Ekpu. It is a sacred music forum comprising choirs of Catholic Chaplaincies/Parishes in Nigerian Universities.

It's objectives includes:

i. To engage the youths [of the Catholic Church] in constructive research on our Nigerian indigenous cultural music, leveraging on the research findings to develop congregational music for the Catholic liturgy.

ii. To propagate Marian music, as well as re-kindle the interest of the youth in the [singing of] Latin chants of the Church.

iii. To promote ethno-cultural tolerance and unity among our people.

FILM is a Biennial Indigenous Music Festival in which participating choirs perform original works showcasing the cultural heritage of their locales, and those of other related cultures.
It is a double celebration as FILM celebrates 10th edition, and 20th Anniversary of its existence.

Details shall be updated as events unfold. Stay tuned.
