St. Anne Catholic Church, Ibara - Abeokuta dedicates church.

It was a day of excitement for the entire parish community of St. Anne Catholic Church, Ibara - Abeokuta as they dedicate their sanctuary to God on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Dedication of a church in the Catholic Church is an ancient tradition in which the building and all the paraphernalia of worship are set-apart for divine worship and devotion.

The dedication of the church concludes the many years of building and furnishing of a befitting house of worship.

Speaking in his homily at the event, the Lord Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, the Most Rev. Dr. Peter Odetoyinbo warned members of the church against defiling the "resting place of God" through ungodly actions. He further reiterated that the people, who are indeed the church must guard against all forms of defilements in their families. He lamented the risen cases of pedophilia in the society told which he described as a very disturbing defilement.

The climax of the event were the placement of the relic of Saint John XIII beneath the altar of the church and the anointing of the altar by the Bishop, and the walls of the church.

The Bishop congratulated the entire worshipping community of St. Anne Catholic Church, Ibara - Abeokuta; the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Oriyomi and the Assistant Parish Priest for all their commitment and sacrifices towards the good work they have done, and also encouraged other parishes to follow the example. It is the second church to be dedicated after the Ss Peter and Paul Cathedral was dedicated earlier in the year.

The event had in attendance, eminent dignitaries which includes the Alake of Egbaland, the Olubara of Ibaraland, Knights and Ladies, the Vice Chancellor of the St. Augustine Catholic University, Epe, among a host of others.
